Through the wonder of Twitter, I have been able to connect with one of my favorite writers, Luis Alberto Urrea. A few weeks ago, he twittered about a reading list he was putting together on influential Chicago writers for his class. I immediately wrote to him asking if I could get a copy of it, even if I wasn't enrolled in his class.
Wow, can you imagine being enrolled in his writing class???
Anyway, to my delight he got back to me no time at all. Oh, and ALL of Luis Alberto Urrea's works are on the list as well. Apparently he's #16 of the top influential Chicago writers.
I'm including this list for all of you readers, lucky you!
1. Chicago Poems, by Carl Sandburg
2. The Devil in the White City, by Erik Larson
3. The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair
4. Chicago: City on the Make, by Nelson Algren
5. The Actual, by Saul Bellow
6. Fire Sale, by Sara Paretsky
